Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs and Gulf Air Group sign Strategic Partnership Framework to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency
The Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs and Gulf Air Group have signed a joint framework agreement to enhance renewable energy usage and energy efficiency. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of His Excellency Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, and Khalid Hussain Taqi, Gulf Air Group Chairman, along with Jeffrey Goh, Gulf Air Group Chief Executive Officer, and Mohamed Yousif AlBinfalah, Bahrain Airport Company Chief Executive Officer.
H.E. the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs emphasized that this agreement reflects the ministry’s commitment to implementing Bahrain’s National Energy Efficiency Plan and National Renewable Energy Plan. He expressed appreciation for Gulf Air Group’s efforts in adopting sustainable energy solutions and capacity building to contribute to achieving energy efficiency. The Minister highlighted the importance of this collaboration in promoting sustainable energy sources within the government’s vision for environmental sustainability.
H.E. the Minister highlighted the role of the private sector in supporting the achievement of renewable energy sector goals and taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the National Renewable Energy Plan. He commended Gulf Air Group’s contributions to supporting national efforts towards optimal energy use and its keenness to benefit from technological developments in the sector.
Khalid Hussain Taqi, Gulf Air Group Chairman, emphasized that the strategic partnership framework signed with the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs comes in light of Gulf Air Group’s continuous efforts to support the transition towards a sustainable, low-carbon economy. This is achieved through collaboration with relevant entities to meet the targets of Bahrain’s National Renewable Energy Plan and National Energy Efficiency Plan.
Gulf Air Group Chairman highlighted the Group’s commitment to national initiatives aimed at promoting renewable energy sources and supporting sustainable development efforts. He explained that this commitment aligns with the Kingdom’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2035 and achieve full carbon neutrality by 2060, contributing to building a more sustainable and greener future for the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The framework agreement aims to provide technical support and consultation from the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs to Gulf Air Group regarding the integration of renewable energy solutions and enhancement of energy efficiency in the Group’s buildings and facilities.
